As our State Assemblymember, Tasha works to:
Keep neighborhoods safe and maintain fast emergency response times
As your Assemblymember and former City Councilmember, I worked with local firefighters, paramedics, and residents to reduce emergency response times. In the State Assembly, I continue to strengthen our unique communities, by working with law enforcement to keep our families and neighborhoods safe, and ensuring first responders have the tools, training, and technology that they need to effectively do their jobs.
Protect our beaches, coastline, open space, and natural environment
Our environment and coastline are worth fighting for. Climate change is happening, and it’s up to us to do something about it for our children. I have a proven record of working to protect open space, preserve beach access, build new walking and biking paths, and ensure that any new development is compatible with our neighborhoods. As your State Assemblymember, I collaborate to protect our coastline, invest in renewable energy technologies, and advance progressive policies to keep our air and water clean.
Help San Diego County’s businesses grow and create quality jobs
As your State Assemblymember, I work hard every day to deliver results for San Diego County. Thriving local businesses are the heart of our communities. As a small business owner myself, I know how important local talent is for business success. In the State Assembly, I support the training of the workforce of today and tomorrow as well as to help our entrepreneurial sector go from idea to proof of concept and then grow within our region, especially in clean, bio and high tech sectors.
Fully fund our schools and reduce barriers to college
As someone who became civically engaged to protect the kids walking and biking to school, I am a mother and former PTA leader who is strongly supported by local teachers because I am committed to fully funding our neighborhood schools and expanding access to after-school programs. I also support making community college tuition free, and finding new ways to reduce the financial barriers that prevent students from attending college.
Secure San Diego County’s fair share to mitigate traffic
As a former City Councilmember, I know one of our communities’ biggest complaints is about traffic congestion. I have a strong track record on decreasing cut-through traffic, increasing road safety and funding more active transportation. In the State Assembly, I continue to champion making a real difference in our lives by funding the transit and transportation projects most important to the everyday lives of our residents.
Ensure our veterans have the services and support they’ve earned
As a representative of one of the largest military communities in California, I consider it an honor to advocate on behalf of our active duty troops and veterans. In Sacramento, I have continued our region’s strong history of policies that support veterans and our military families, including streamlining integration of state and military bureaucracy, recognizing out-of-state certification for military families, training for post-service jobs in our region and good, quality local schools for our children.
Reduce homelessness by dealing with the root causes of the crises
As our State Assemblymember, I support policies that strengthen the programs and services that protect our most vulnerable residents. I am committed to reducing homelessness by treating the root causes of the crisis, and will work to ensure that California’s low-income seniors and families have access to the services and support they need. You can count on me to stand up and fight for our immigrant communities.
Host town hall meetings and office hours in every city in our district
State legislation can be sometimes so opaque, so ensuring that voters in our district understand the opportunities and challenges of our state issues is important to me. Our district not only deserves a representative in Sacramento who reflects the values of our district, but will also be accessible to all the people in our district. In the State Assembly, I will host town halls in our district as well as hold office hours in every city in our district.
Increase transparency and reduce the influence of big money in politics
A strong democracy is based on transparency and accountability. As your State Assemblymember, I support policies that increase transparency, inclusion and give our community an effective voice in the deliberative processes in Sacramento. I remain committed to ensuring that every step is as transparent as possible and that Sacramento is held accountable to the voice of the people in our district.
