ENSURE PUBLIC SAFETY

Tasha is deeply committed to public safety and protecting San Diego neighborhoods. She has helped secure new funding for San Diego County firefighters and law enforcement. Tasha also authored laws protecting the privacy rights of sexual assault victims, improving cybersecurity preparation procedures for local governments, and strengthening traffic and cyclist safety.

PROTECT OUR COAST

Tasha is a leader in fighting to protect California’s coastline and environment. She has championed legislation to monitor and combat coastal erosion, restore coastal wetlands, incentivize clean transportation options including e-bikes, and ban toxic plastic microbeads in cleaning and personal care products.

ADDRESS AFFORDABILITY

Tasha believes that the rising cost of living is straining on family budgets and hurting San Diegans. In 2024, Tasha authored a law that will lower the costs of utilities for Californians and prevent waste and unnecessary utility bill hikes. She also authored a bill which would require internet companies to offer affordable home internet service for low-income Californians.

INVEST IN EDUCATION

Tasha knows that public education is the foundation of our society and our future. She has advocated for more funding and support for our public education system from pre-schools up to our public colleges and universities. Tasha wrote the law that modernized school land management, generating revenue from underutilized land to reinvest in our schools.

IMPROVE HEALTHCARE

Tasha is a strong advocate for improving access to care and for lowering the costs of healthcare. Among numerous efforts, Tasha: helped secure funds to ensure young children can receive Medi-Cal coverage, wrote legislation to prevent ambulance companies from charging patients out-of-network fees when taken to a hospital, and established a pilot program in San Diego County for postpartum health.

REDUCE HOMELESSNESS

Tasha is working to reduce homelessness and ensure that San Diegans have affordable, safe places to call home. Tasha wrote a law to make it easier to build small, detached, single-family homes. The Starter Home Revitalization Act is aimed at reducing the cost of housing and the barriers to building homes that fit the character of our communities. Tasha also wrote a new law to help working artists access affordable housing near state-designated cultural districts.
