CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATIVE WOMEN’S CAUCUS BACKS TASHA EARLY IN AD-76 CONTEST

Encinitas, CA — The California Democratic Legislative Women’s Caucusannounced their endorsement of Democrat Tasha Boerner Horvath in her campaign for State Assembly District 76. The primary for the 76th Assembly District seat will occur in June of 2018. The seat is currently held by Republican Assemblymember Rocky Chavez.    
 
"When women are elected to state legislative offices, the issues that are elevated change,” said Assemblymember Cristina Garcia, Chair of the California Democratic Legislative Women’s Caucus. “We think Tasha Boerner Horvath can join our collective voice and further magnify the work we are doing for women and families in our golden state.” 
 
The Democratic Legislative Women’s Caucus represents and advocates on behalf of the diverse interests of women, children, and families throughout California. It seeks to increase participation and representation of women in state government. In California, women make up only 22 percent of the legislature. Its members include Senators Connie Leyva, Cathleen Galgiani, Hannah-Beth Jackson, Holly Mitchell, Nancy Skinner, and Toni Atkins, and Assemblymembers Cristina Garcia, Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Autumn Burke, Anna Caballero, Sabrina Cervantes, Susan Eggman, Laura Friedman, Lorena Gonzalez-Fletcher, Jacqui Irwin, Monique Limón, Sharon Quirk-Silva, Eloise Gómez Reyes, Blanca Rubio, and Shirley Weber.
 
Tasha Boerner Horvath is a mother, community leader, business owner, City Councilmember, and third-generation Encinitan. Prior to her election to the Encinitas City Council in 2016, she served as a member of the city’s planning commission. Professionally, Tasha has worked as a consultant for non-profits, global Fortune 500 companies, higher education institutions, and international organizations. In response to her daughter's struggle with sensory process disorder, Tasha started a business designing sensory-friendly clothing for little girls.
 
Tasha earned an A.B.D. in Political Science and an M.A. in International Studies from Claremont Graduate University Institute of Politics and Policy. Tasha studied at the Humboldt University of Berlin for part of her graduate work. She received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
 
Tasha and her husband, Istvan, are the proud parents of two children.
 
About the 76th Assembly District
California’s 76th State Assembly District includes the cities of Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside, and Vista, as well as the Camp Pendleton Marine Base. Steady demographic changes over the past five years have made AD 76 one of the most competitive districts in the state in terms of partisan voter registration. Hillary Clinton defeated Donald Trump in the district by a margin of more than 12% last year.
